About

Who is she?

With a double B.A. in journalism and playwriting from Columbia College Chicago, I am on the hunt for full-time writing, editing, and communications positions. In addition to my year and a half leading the intern team as the Press Aide & Internship Coordinator in the Chicago Mayor's Press Office (see my LinkedIn for more details), I have held management positions in journalism throughout my entire college career, and my theatrical knowledge allows me a uniquely creative perspective in journalism and communications. At the same time, my journalistic expertise gives me an edge in research, organization, nonfiction writing, and critical analysis.

On my LinkedIn, you can track my professional career, but below, you can see more details about my experiences in collegiate journalism:

After spending my freshman year of college as the IV Leader's Culture Editor, I moved on to Editor-in-Chief, where I redesigned the magazine to a tab style and led the newspaper to win numerous awards at the Illinois Valley Community College Journalism Association awards, including General Excellence.

After I moved on to The Columbia Chronicle, I jumped from Copy Editor to Opinions Editor to Copy Chief to Senior Editor due to the regularly rotating staff. I took over the advice column Awkward, in which I wrote most often on sex and relationships, occasionally dabbling in friendship, family, and pandemic issues.

During the summer of 2020, I interned with Gateway Journalism Review, a journalism trade publication, where I covered issues relating to the pandemic and copy edited their Summer 2020 issue, which revolved around health and science journalism.

And during the spring of 2021, I acted as Echo Magazine's Production Manager, creating a schedule and back out schedule for that year's issue, as well as writing and editing articles and guiding other reporters.

Please, refer to my resume for more information on my areas of expertise.

What does she like?

When I am not writing and editing, I have an array of other hobbies and projects. Theatre is one of my greatest passions, and while I enjoy viewing live and recorded theatre (Hadestown, Falsettos, and She Loves Me are a few favorite musicals), I also enjoy creating it. In my portfolio page are Roll With It and Red in the Blue, both of which are completed stories I am working on expanding.

And while I have not formally practiced Tae Kwon Do in several years, I still work on my kicks, blocks, and forms personally in my home and at the gym.

I also have a returning love of videogames, due to my time inside during the pandemic. As a child, I loved playing Animal Crossing on my DSi, and I have recently jumped back in to this love with Animal Crossing: New Horizons on the Switch. Baldur's Gate III, Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Marvel's Spider Man: Miles Morales, Garden Story, and Hades are a few other favorite titles.

Finally, there is my good boy Melo, who you have been seeing on this website. Melo is a soft-coated Wheaten terrier, and he jumps like a goat. He is the sweetest and gentlest dog, and even though he is hypoallergenic and I am still allergic to him. And even though he hits me in the face with his snout, he is still precious enough for me to use him as my model.
